Cursor Is a Senior Dev Who Never Gets Bored

I have a teammate who happily writes the 47th CRUD endpoint without sighing.
No complaints.
No coffee breaks.
No "can we talk about my career growth?"
That teammate is Cursor.
The prep cook analogy
In a busy restaurant, the head chef doesn't peel 200 potatoes.
A prep cook does.
The prep cook is fast, consistent, and never asks why there are so many potatoes.
The head chef decides the menu, tastes the sauce, and decides when a dish is ready to go out.
That's how I use Cursor.
It does the prep:
- TypeScript interfaces
- API service functions
- Validation schemas
- Test scaffolding
- Renaming that touches 30 files
I do the cooking:
- Architecture
- Trade-offs
- What we don't build
- Final review
Show it one good potato
The trick is not to describe the work in the abstract.
Point at an example that already exists.
Bad:
Write the API functions for orders.
Good:
Look at src/services/user.service.ts.
Create create, update, delete, and list functions
for orders following exactly the same pattern,
naming, and error handling. The first prompt gets you generic code.
The second gets you code that looks like your team wrote it.
Boring work is where the time hides
No single repetitive task feels expensive.
Five minutes here.
Ten minutes there.
But add them up over a month and you've lost days to copy, paste, rename, repeat.
Those are exactly the days Cursor gives back.
But don't hand over the menu
The danger is getting so excited about the prep cook that you let them design the menu.
Cursor can write code that compiles.
It can't decide whether the feature should exist.
That part is still your job.
And honestly, it's the fun part.
Final thoughts
I don't use Cursor because it's smarter than me.
I use it because it's more patient than me.
Let it write the 47th endpoint.
You save your energy for the first real decision.
