Copying the answer from AI is like asking a friend to lift weights for you at the gym.
Your friend gets strong.
You get a gym membership.
The gym trainer
A good trainer doesn't lift the weights for you.
They show you the form.
They correct your posture.
They push you to do one more rep.
The weight is still yours to lift.
That's exactly how students should use AI.
As a trainer, not a substitute.
Meet Aarav
Aarav is in Class 9.
He has a maths test on quadratic equations.
The old way:
"Solve these 10 questions."
AI solves them.
Aarav copies them.
Test day arrives.
Aarav discovers he learned nothing.
The better way
Bad:
Solve these 10 quadratic equations.
Good:
I'm in Class 9 and I don't understand how to
factorise quadratic equations. Explain it simply
with one example. Then give me 3 practice questions,
one at a time, and check my answers without
telling me the answer first. Now AI is the trainer.
Aarav does the reps.
Good ways to use AI for studying
✅ "Explain this like I'm 12."
✅ "Quiz me on chapter 4."
✅ "Where did I go wrong in this answer?"
✅ "Give me a real-life example of photosynthesis."
Not so good:
❌ "Write my essay."
❌ "Give me all the answers."
A note for parents
AI isn't the enemy of homework.
Copying is.
And copying existed long before AI. Ask anyone who borrowed a friend's notebook five minutes before class.
The goal is the same as always: understanding.
AI can actually make that easier, if it's used as a trainer.
Final thoughts
Exams don't care who solved the homework.
They care who learned it.
So let AI explain, quiz, and correct you.
But lift the weights yourself.
The muscles only grow for the person doing the reps.
